the head & the heart
All is fair in love and war.
John Lyly
There are, as a component of the human complex, two contradictory parts regarded as the guides of the soul: the head and the heart. The head, designed for reason, is more inclined to war; while the heart, the crux of all things irrational, is the picture of love itself. These two parts of a whole do tend to balance each other out. For what would be the worth of war without love, and what the worth of love without the war for it, the fight? However, when the head & the heart are in the same place, working for an indistinguishable purpose, that is when the battle is lost and won. That is when the battle is over, and when the battle has just begun. That is the fight all of mankind strives to fight, the head & the heart at the center of man’s plight.
