henceforth & thus far
Adrift ‘neath the stars doth she stay
Searching for something to which
She cannot yet place a name
For thus far all life has been to her
Is but a solemn march to the grave
Blind has she been her whole life
To the light at the end of the tunnel
A light that very much exists
And puts a meaning to all this strife
For henceforth & thus far are not one in the same
A walk through Hell does not determine where you shall forever remain
Just as the dark eventually concedes to the day
So will this black abyss soon solidify into a dull, searing gray
And then out of the dark doth one step, doth the soul fly
To find the light, and—in that— assurance that this war waged was not in vain
Henceforth she shall rise from this shallow grave
And that shadow of a once vibrant life will become vibrant once again
Henceforth she possesses hope, and hope not in vain,
That love shall find her, and that life shall sustain the mind, body and soul.
Oh, henceforth & thus far are not one in the same
For the light is there and will forever remain.
